Firework Animations

We have been using Scratch to create firework animations. First we drew a firework and then animated it by dragging blocks and snapping them together like Lego, to create a sequence of instructions.We then duplicated the firework sprite and moved it to different areas of the stage.

We are leaning about Divali in year 3 and we are trying to get a Divali dancer to come in.
Hindu’s celebrate Divali by wearing fancy clothes and eating special food.

Diwali and Fractions

Today we did a lot of work.

  • First we did lots of bullet point work about Diwali. 
  • Then we found some pictures of Diwali gods to stick in our literacy books. 
  • After that we did a maths challenge with half’s and quarters. 
  • Later on we are going to make a Diwali menu and some barfi sweets.

Puppets, Labels and Fractions

On Tuesday we made shadow puppet for our Diwali play. We made them on black card so they showed up on the white screen.

Today we also made labels for our reading journals and literacy books. On the labels for our reading journals we got our favorite books and the authors that wrote them.

Then we did our maths work it was about fractions. We had to draw a shape and split it in half and quarter it.

What it means to me poem

Poppies stand tall and Proud in Flanders field,
Poppies swishing like Angels flying through the sky -
Poppies move like a whisper
The delicate poppies move like dainty ballerinas.


Poppies stand tall in Flanders fields.
And the wind like whispering
Fluttering up high like angles in the sky.
